SEGA has officially announced that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is getting a wave of new content starting this November, headlined by a quirky crossover with SpongeBob SquarePants. The “SpongeBob SquarePants Pack” DLC launches on November 19, bringing Bikini Bottom under the Sonic Racing spotlight.
Dive Into Bikini Bottom With the SpongeBob Pack

The upcoming paid DLC lets players race as SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, complete with the Patty Wagon vehicle and a Bikini Bottom-themed racetrack. Fans can expect brand-new music tracks inspired by the SpongeBob series and six expressive emotes per character to bring more personality to every race. It’s a lighthearted crossover that celebrates both SEGA’s high-speed mascot and Nickelodeon’s underwater goofballs in a colorful, family-friendly update.
Free Character Updates Bring SEGA and Sonic Universe Favorites

Following the SpongeBob DLC, SEGA will roll out several free character updates between December 2025 and February 2026, expanding the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds roster even further.
In December 2025, players can look forward to NiGHTS from the classic SEGA franchise NiGHTS into Dreams joining the race, driving the Dream Sleeper vehicle. Then, January 2026 brings AiAi from Super Monkey Ball behind the wheel of the Banana Cruiser, adding another layer of nostalgia for long-time SEGA fans.
Finally, February 2026 introduces Tangle and Whisper, two beloved characters from IDW Publishing’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, marking their first appearance in the CrossWorlds lineup.
A Growing Celebration of SEGA’s Legacy

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has continued to evolve since launch, uniting characters from across SEGA’s universe—and now even beyond it. The SpongeBob crossover highlights SEGA’s willingness to embrace playful collaborations while keeping the racing mechanics and fan service intact.
The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version arriving on December 4, 2025.
As SEGA continues to expand the CrossWorlds roster, players can expect even more exciting collaborations and free updates in the months ahead—because in this racing universe, there’s always room for one more icon at the starting line.
