Krafton has announced that PUBG for console will officially end support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 13, 2025, shifting exclusively to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
This marks a significant step in aligning the battle royale title with current-gen hardware for better stability, visuals, and performance.
Why PUBG is Moving to Current-Gen

The decision, first outlined in PUBG’s 2025 roadmap, aims to deliver more stable gameplay and prepare the game for future large-scale updates. The transition will bring:
- Improved visuals with Dynamic 4K on PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X
- More stable 60 FPS performance
- Reduced crashes through memory optimizations
For Xbox Series S, players can choose between 1080p at 60 FPS or 1440p at 30 FPS, depending on their preference.
What This Means for PS4 and Xbox One Players
After the live server maintenance on November 13, PUBG will no longer be downloadable or playable on last-gen consoles. However, existing account data and purchased items will carry over to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- PlayStation users will need to download the PS5 version from the PlayStation Store after the transition.
- Xbox users with the game installed will automatically receive the current-gen version via Smart Delivery.
Refunds for BATTLEGROUNDS Plus and other purchases will follow each platform’s refund policy.
Looking Back, and Ahead
In its announcement, the development team expressed gratitude to last-gen players for more than seven years of matches, memorable firefights, and community moments. While the change marks the end of an era, the team says it is a strategic move to ensure the game’s long-term growth.
The transition will also help PUBG maintain cross-play fairness between platforms and deliver a consistent experience for all console players.
