The Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket team has officially unveiled details about the highly anticipated trading feature coming to the mobile game this month. The announcement provides clarity on how players will be able to exchange cards within the game’s ecosystem.
According to the official statement, trading will be implemented with specific limitations. Players will only be able to trade cards with their friends, and exchanges must involve cards of equal rarity. Initially, trading will be restricted to cards with rarity levels of Diamond 1-4 and 1-star, which means ultra-rare cards like full art EX, trainer cards, immersive cards, and gold cards will not be available for trading at launch.

The feature will start with cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island booster packs, with plans to expand the selection of tradeable cards from other booster packs in the future. The development team has also confirmed that trades will require the consumption of in-game items, though specific details about these requirements have not yet been revealed.
This trading implementation comes as part of the game’s January content schedule, which also includes the release of new booster packs. The Pokemon TCG Pocket team emphasized their commitment to monitoring player feedback and maintaining a balance between accessibility and collection enjoyment when the trading feature is set to release.
