Yuya Tokuda, director of Monster Hunter Wilds, has shared a new letter with major updates and adjustments for the game. The message outlines expanded end-game content, large-scale weapon balance changes, and stability improvements.

Tokuda also reaffirmed Capcom’s commitment to acting on community feedback. Here’s a breakdown of the key points and what hunters can expect next.
Expanded End-Game Content Arrives Early
The long-awaited 9 star high-difficulty quests will arrive earlier than planned. Originally set for late September, these quests now launch with the Ver. 1.021 Update on August 13, 2025. Hunters with Rank 100 or higher can face Tempered Monsters from nine different species in locales. Each hunt offers tougher battles and improved rewards.
These quests also debut the Glowing Stone appraisal item, which transforms into an Appraised Talisman with randomly assigned skills. These special talismans can grant both armor and weapon skills, plus decoration slots, opening the door to deeper customization and more experimental builds.
Capcom has rebalanced the new 9 star monsters to ensure fair rewards and more chances to explore elemental builds. This change moves the focus away from Arkveld, which dominated early post-launch end-game. Other tweaks include longer meal effect durations, higher upgrade limits for armor of rarity 5 or above, and more frequent apex predator spawns outside inclemency periods.
Looking ahead, Title Update 3 will expand the 9 star roster through event quests. It will also bring Lagiacrus to the Wounded Hollow, add new hunt types, and improve gameplay convenience.
Weapon Balance Overhaul
Capcom is rolling out major weapon buffs in Ver. 1.021, responding to concerns about restrictive nerfs in Title Update 2. The update strengthens 11 weapon types to restore build diversity and reinforce each weapon’s unique playstyle.
Sword & Shield gains a small power boost to Counter Slash, countering its reduced usage after earlier changes. Charge Blade now carries enhanced phial damage into Power Axe Mode, allowing more consistent high output. Light and Heavy Bowguns see stronger elemental ammo, relaxed pierce ammo nerfs, faster gauge recovery, and better special ammo handling to broaden viable loadouts.
Dual Blades get easier Demon Boost maintenance and a new Focus Strike chaining option to keep up offensive pressure. Great Sword, Insect Glaive, Hunting Horn, and others receive usability and damage upgrades. These adjustments encourage hunters to revisit weapon choices. Stability and Performance Improvements
The update improves game stability, especially on PC. A crash caused by certain player gestures will be fixed, and the team is strengthening internal checks to prevent similar issues.
On Steam, past optimizations like shader compilation fixes, reduced anti-cheat CPU load, and DLSS4/FSR4 support will expand. Title Update 3 will enhance texture loading for NPCs and Seikret mounts. Title Update 4 this winter will reduce CPU and GPU load in stages. Capcom advises players to set sensible frame rate limits to avoid unnecessary strain.
