Microsoft has announced a significant price increase for its Xbox consoles globally, coupled with plans to raise premium game prices to $80 later this year. The company cited “market conditions and the rising cost of development” as key factors behind these changes.
“We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development,” Microsoft stated to IGN. “Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and ensuring value for Xbox players.”

US customers will see some of the most dramatic increases, with the Xbox Series X jumping $100 to $599.99 (previously $499.99) and the Series S increasing by $80 to $379.99 (from $299.99). The newly introduced Xbox Series X Digital model will now cost $549.99, up from its $449.99 launch price.
The UK market appears less severely affected, with the Xbox Series X seeing only a £20 increase to £499.99, while the Series S rises by £50 to £299.99. European customers will also experience price hikes, with the Series X increasing by €50 to €599.99 and the Series S rising by the same amount to €349.99.
