Metaphor: ReFantazio Exclusive Showcase Reveals Story, Setting, and Characters

Publisher ATLUS has just released the third Metaphor: ReFantazio exclusive showcase video on July 6, 2024, which introduces the game’s story, setting, and characters. The ATLUS exclusive showcase is a part of their campaign to reveal details about about the game’s story and other details prior to its launch on October 11 on PC via Steam, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The exclusive video showcased the premise of the story as follows:

The game depicts a tale of forging bonds and ascending to kingship within a unique kingdom. This realm is in chaos following a significant event—the assassination of its king. The protagonist, a young boy, journeys alongside his companion, the fairy Gallica, aiming to rescue a cursed prince. Amidst these challenges, an unprecedented magical election unfolds, sweeping the protagonist into a global journey. In this exclusive showcase, I will delve into the story’s outset, exploring the protagonist’s decision to pursue the throne and introducing the allies who will aid him along the way.

The showcase also revealed the monsters in game called “Humans”. Medieval artist and Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch inspired the design of the humans. Bosch’s mysterious creatures in paintings are sometimes described as the world’s first depiction of monsters or fantasy creatures. Furthermore, the showcase revealed companions who will join in the protagonist’s journey. ATLUS announced that they have created a game that all users can enjoy. In the next exclusive showcase, ATLUS will reveal what the antagonists who will emerge in the actual campaign.
