A PlayStation Store leak has revealed the release date of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater which is set to launch on August 28, 2025, ending nearly two years of anticipation since its initial announcement in May 2023. The leak, first spotted by a ResetEra user, briefly displayed both the release date and a new trailer on the game’s store page.

The leaked trailer showcases reimagined versions of the game’s iconic characters, including Eva and The Boss, while highlighting the remake’s updated combat mechanics. Fans got a fresh look at the game’s signature Close Quarters Combat (CQC) system and the infamous Shagohod vehicle. The footage also featured appearances from memorable boss characters such as The End, The Fury, and The Pain. In a nostalgic nod to the original, the trailer teased the return of the Ape Escape-inspired minigame.
This revelation comes amid rumors of an upcoming PlayStation State of Play event, suggesting the announcement may have been planned for that showcase. The timing is particularly significant for Konami, who has been working to revitalize the Metal Gear franchise following 2018’s poorly received Metal Gear Survive.
Following the successful launch of Silent Hill 2 in 2024, Konami appears poised to continue its streak of classic game revivals. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater represents another crucial release for the company as it works to restore one of its most beloved franchises.
While the game was previously featured in PlayStation’s 2024 games trailer, no official release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater had been announced until this leak. The August 2025 release window places it alongside other anticipated titles, including Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
