Square Enix has dropped more new details for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, including the gregarious feline Cait Sith and his Moogle companion, as well as Yuffie and other characters.

Along with a new trailer titled ‘Destined for Rebirth’, Square Enix decided to share more about the combat style of Yuffie and information about Cait Sith and Moogle, Elena, and Captain Titov for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Yuffie Kisaragi

It is no secret that materia huntress Yuffie Kisaragi will be making her return from Episode INTERmission of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade to join Cloud’s party. Now, details on her abilities have been shared and she will retain much of her Ninja playstyle.

Basic Attacks 

For her basic attacks, she strikes her enemies with a large throwing star in rapid succession. Her swift attacks allow players to charge ATB faster than most. While her throwing star is out, Yuffie can also unleash magic-infused ninjutsu to punish her adversaries.

Abilities

Yuffie specializes in chaining up her attacks together and switching their elemental affinity. Meanwhile, her Doppelgänger ability enables her to attack in tandem with her clone, allowing her to exploit enemies’ weaknesses with more effectiveness.

Unique Ability

On top of all her abilities, Yuffie can also hurl her throwing star at enemies, allowing her to keep up the pressure from a distance. As mentioned, while her throwing star is out, she can also pelt her opponents down with ninjutsu. Whatever element her enemies are weak to, Yuffie has a ninjutsu for it.

Cait Sith & Moogle

This sociable talking cat fights from atop his sturdy companion moogle, who grants both support and mobility in battle. When not duking it out with enemies, Cait’s tech-savvy helper assists him in hacking and bypassing computer systems, as well as telling fortunes.

Basic Attacks 

For basic attacks, Cait Sith darts around the battlefield with great acrobatic agility, assailing enemies from every side. On top of that, he can also switch things up by summoning his Moogle pal, and changing his attack patterns.

Abilities

Caith Sith has a set of moves exclusive to him that can hurt enemies or buff up his allies, but most rely on luck in some way. Then, there is “Let’s Ride!”, which allows him to hop on his Moogle buddy, enhancing his normal attacks and his unique abilities.

Unique Abilities

While riding Moogle, the duo can give enemies the boot with Dropkick. Additionally, once Moogle’s attacks have filled the Moogle Meter, Cait Sith can buff his companions with abilities such as “Defense!”.

Synergy Abilities

Synergy abilities are powerful attacks in which two party members team up to unleash a powerful attack and turn the tide of battle. Simply fill up the synergy gauge by utilizing abilities, and players can unleash devastating synchronized assaults.

More synergy abilities can be unlocked as players increase the party level, deepening the affinity between party members and showing how closely-knit the team is.

Moogle Pinwheel

A Synergy ability of Yuffie and Cait Sith, where both of them attack in tandem with a secret ninja technique.

Other Characters 

Elena

“Feast your eyes on the Turks’ latest and greatest – Elena! But you three can call me your worst nightmare!”

Voiced by Piper Reese, Elena may be a rookie, but she is as skilled with her fists and firearm as anyone else in the Turks unit of Shinra’s General Affair Division.

She and her partner Rude are being tasked with pursuing the black-robe figures, which she is more than happy to do if it means being assigned a mission with Tseng.

Captain Titov

“Be sure to mind your P’s and Q’s, huh? Lotta bigwigs on board.”

Voiced by Jonathan Lipow, Titov is the captain of the Shinra-8 and is responsible for overseeing the safe passage for all who travel between Junon and Costa del Sol.

He has earned quite a sterling reputation among his crews, all thanks to his unerring devotion to his duties. This is most evident during the various festivities held aboard his vessel, which he personally and passionately emcees.

Regions of the World

Starboard Junon

An urban residential zone within the fortified metropolis overlooking the ocean.

In addition to housing for Shinra personnel, high-end boutiques and restaurants line its streets.
Currently, preparations are underway here for Rufus Shinra’s presidential inauguration parade.

Shinra-8

A Shinra cruise ship that ferries travelers between the planet’s eastern and western continents.

After departing the port of Junon, it heads for the resort town of Costa del Sol. As part of the onboard entertainment, the ship plays host to a Queen’s Blood tournament.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth releases on February 29th, 2024, exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
