EA and DICE are finally lifting the curtain on the next entry in the Battlefield series. Titled Battlefield 6, the reveal will take place on July 24 with a world premiere trailer launching on the official Battlefield YouTube channel.

The announcement came through a post on X, accompanied by new key art that sticks to the franchise’s signature blue-orange color grade and fiery lens flare visuals. The artwork features four faceless soldiers—each seemingly representing a playable class.

While the trailer itself remains under wraps, the image hints at a return to the series’ class-based system, possibly aiming to course-correct from the changes seen in Battlefield 2042.

Mixed Feelings from the Community

The upcoming reveal arrives amid mixed anticipation. Although recent Battlefield Labs playtests generated positive feedback, EA reignited concerns by confirming the return of Battlefield 2042’s open weapon system. However, EA later clarified that players will have the option to toggle between open and closed weapon formats during the beta.

What Do We Know So Far?

Battlefield 6 appears to be set in the modern era, and not in a historical conflict or a futuristic one. Also, the Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes are making a return after they were controversially replaced with Specialists reminiscent of Call of Duty Operators in Battlefield 2042, with satisfying map-altering destruction also being made a priority after 2042 disappointed in this regard.
