Bandai Namco and developer Dimps have released a new trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 titled “Welcome to West City,” giving fans the new details and what life looks like in the game’s brand-new setting.

Coming 10 years since the last entry in the series, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 takes place in a new setting called AGE 1000. The game is being built as a story-driven RPG mixed with the fast-paced action combat the series is known for, and players will once again be able to create and play as their own custom character.

The trailer puts a big spotlight on West City, the main hub world of the game. Players will get to explore and uncover stories in West City, and the trailer introduces Bulma and Gamma 1, who welcomes players into the ranks of the Great Saiya Squad while offering a glimpse into life at West City University. Alongside returning Dragon Ball characters, players will also meet a cast of original characters making their debut in the franchise, including Brett, Lilica, ROM, and Tap.

On the combat side, the game is expanding on what past entries established. Players can fly through West City, boost across the battlefield, and fire off ki attacks at enemies. The bigger addition, though, comes in how player race choice affects how fights play out. Saiyans can tap into Super Saiyan transformations across multiple forms for increasing power, while Earthlings take a different approach entirely through two new mechanics.

The Soul Assist system lets Earthling players call in a powerful ally from the Dragon Ball universe to hit enemies alongside them. The Soul Switch mechanic, on the other hand, lets players temporarily take on the soul and abilities of iconic characters like Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Tien to gain new powers during battle. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam in 2027. More details are expected to be revealed in the months ahead.
