Spike Chunsoft has released six minutes of new gameplay footage from Danganronpa 2×2 during the Danganronpa 15th Anniversary Fes: Ultimate Appreciation Festival. The footage comes from a playable demo shown at the event’s Danganronpa 2×2 Special Stage.
The game takes place on Jabberwock Island, a former tourist spot now sitting empty but well-preserved. Players take on the role of a Hope’s Peak Academy student who arrives on the island with their classmates for what’s meant to be a school trip. Things take a dark turn when Monokuma shows up with a deadly game, trapping everyone on the island. The only way out is to solve the mysteries surrounding the location.

Danganronpa 2×2 builds on Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair with a completely new story. While the setting and characters return from the original game, a new incident kicks off different victims, killers, and plot twists. The new content matches the original game’s length, making it a full experience on its own.
The package also includes the original Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, updated for current platforms with improved graphics and quality-of-life features. Both scenarios feature full voice acting from well-known actors. Danganronpa 2×2 is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam.
