The undead are back and this time, they’re coming for consoles. The House of the Dead 2: Remake launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 24, 2025, for $24.99 / RM 61.00. Publisher Forever Entertainment and developer MegaPixel Studio confirmed the release just in time for Halloween.
Previously, the remake arrived on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and GOG on August 7, bringing the classic arcade shooter back to life for a new audience.
A Classic Arcade Horror Returns with Modern Upgrades
This new version revives the beloved 1998 arcade hit for today’s players. You’ll step into the shoes of AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart, who investigate a terrifying outbreak in a small, overrun city.

As the infection spreads, the agents realize the disaster mirrors the Curien Mansion incident from the first game. Determined to uncover the truth, they battle through waves of grotesque monsters in thrilling, fast-paced combat.

The remake blends modern graphics with classic arcade gameplay. Whether you play solo or in two-player co-op, teamwork remains key to surviving the undead assault.
A Familiar Story of Terror and Survival
Set in February 2000, the story follows James and Gary as they confront a horrifying biological outbreak. The once-peaceful city now crawls with abominations. Each mission leads the agents deeper into the city’s dark secrets and closer to the cause of the infection.

The remake keeps the charm of the original with its campy dialogue, dramatic cutscenes, and nostalgic voice acting. At the same time, it adds sharper visuals and smoother gameplay. As a result, both longtime fans and newcomers can enjoy the mix of tension and action that defines the series.
Revamped Features That Stay True to the Original
The House of the Dead 2: Remake enhances the experience without losing its soul. Players can choose between a newly remastered soundtrack or the original arcade music, offering a touch of personal nostalgia.

The controls feel tighter, and the action flows faster than ever. You can explore branching paths, uncover multiple endings, and practice your aim in Training Mode. For a tougher challenge, Boss Mode lets you re-fight the game’s biggest enemies for higher scores.

The co-op mode returns as well, letting you team up with friends to blast through the undead together. Every decision and shot counts, keeping the adrenaline high from start to finish.
Perfect Timing for Halloween Horror Fans

Launching right before Halloween, The House of the Dead 2: Remake couldn’t arrive at a better time. The game offers a thrilling mix of horror, nostalgia, and arcade action. It’s a faithful recreation that celebrates what made the series iconic while giving it a modern edge for today’s consoles. For more updates on the game, follow them on their official X account.
