Developer NEOWIZ has officially cancelled the Steam release of BrownDust2 after running into policy issues with the platform that could not be resolved.
The company announced the cancellation after what they described as “extensive internal discussion,” stating they encountered an issue during coordination with Steam’s policy requirements that “cannot be reasonably resolved with the current version of the game.”
According to their official statement, the team considered multiple options to make the release happen but decided that making the necessary changes would not be appropriate in order to preserve the game’s “core direction and overall quality.”

Before the cancellation was announced, the developers had acknowledged problems with the game’s Steam page, noting that “access to the BrownDust2 game page and community features on the Steam platform is currently restricted.” At the time, they said they were communicating with Steam to resolve the issue.
Despite the cancelled launch, the developers will still give out all rewards that were promised during the Steam pre-release campaigns, including wishlist milestone rewards and community event rewards. These rewards will be distributed to all existing players after the December 16 update.
BrownDust2 remains available on Android and iOS mobile platforms. The game also has a direct standalone PC launcher that players can download. NEOWIZ stated they are currently looking for alternative PC platforms that can host the formal PC release and will share details once a direction is confirmed.
The team apologized to players who were waiting for the Steam release and said they would “do our best to repay your support with a more stable and satisfying service.”
