Borderlands 4 has only been out for a week, and players are already breaking the game in every possible way. Whether it’s busted character builds, infinite damage setups that melt bosses in seconds, or hilarious self-inflicted deaths from gathering loot, Pandora is chaos as usual.
Broken Builds and Big Numbers

In just the first week, players fought bosses 63 million times and won 55 million of those encounters. That’s a solid hit rate for a looter-shooter built on absurd weapons and even more absurd explosions. Many players now run “infinite damage” builds that shred raid bosses in under 10 seconds, which is either perfect or problematic depending on your perspective.
Free Break Free Pack for All Players
To mark the occasion, Gearbox dropped a free Shift code called the Break Free Pack, rewarding players with loot to match the madness. The pack includes a Vault Hunter skin, a legendary Ripper shield that scales to your current level, and two ECHO-4 drone skins.

Here’s the code: JS63J-JSCWJ-CFTBW-3TJ3J-WJS5R. The code stays valid until December 31, 2030, so players have plenty of time to claim it.
Looting Stats From the First Week

Gearbox also shared some wild stats. So far, Borderlands 4 players have looted more than 764 million items, excluding common junk. Nearly half a million of those came straight out of trash cans. The breakdown includes:
-
1,530,794 items looted from outhouses
-
1,811,970 items looted from grills, beer coolers, or boomboxes
-
487,585 items looted from trash cans
-
14,814,296 items looted from red chests
Not all the numbers are victories. Four-and-a-half million players blew themselves up with grenades, while two million died standing too close to explosive barrels. On top of that, players destroyed more than 16 million vehicles in one week.
Trash Loot and the Long Haul
Borderlands has always thrived on ridiculous stats, chaotic fights, and humor tucked into every corner. Gearbox leaning into that tradition by celebrating even the weirdest milestones, like digging weapons out of bins just makes the loot chase more fun.

With the Shift code lasting until 2030, fans have years to claim their free rewards. And let’s be honest: people will still be rummaging through Pandora’s trash well into the future. For more updates on the game, players can visit their official X account.
