The first expansion for WoW Classic – The Burning Crusade, has just announced its release date, months after the expansion’s announcement at BlizzConline.

In a tweet, Blizzard explained that WoW  Burning Crusade Classic would release June 1st, along with a handy chart showing when the expansion would be available based on timezones.

As previously announced, players who don’t want to play with the new expansion can have their characters migrated to a new Vanilla WoW Classic server, where they’ll play with other characters as if it had never dropped.

Burning Crusade is one of the most popular World of Warcraft expansions, next to Wrath of the Lich King. The expansion features the Demon Hunter Illidan, uttering his iconic one-liner from the trailer.

Players shouldn’t expect a totally 1:1 port of the original expansion, however. In our interview with the developers of Burning Crusade Classic, they explained that it would be starting from update 2.43, citing that’s when a lot of the game’s early bugs were fixed. They also explained you’d be able to start with a Dranei or Blood Elf character from the start of the expansion, to allow players to get the character they want earlier.

Finally, they also said they would be bringing the Boost feature from regular World of Warcraft into Burning Crusade Classic, letting players just getting into it catch up with more experienced friends.
