Wizards of the Coast’s legendary tabletop franchise Dungeons & Dragons is getting a triple A open world video game in the future. Hidden Path Entertainment revealed that they are currently developing this game with the following tweet:
To take on this big project, Hidden Path Entertainment is opening positions listed for graphics programmer, lead graphics programmer, senior technical artist and writer. Based on the company’s career page, the requirements for the positions hint that the Dungeons & Dragons open world game will use Unreal Engine 4.
Beyond this recruitment tweet, not much is known about the project. Since this is a triple A open world game, it will likely be available on current and/or next-gen consoles. An official title or release date is still unknown.
Hidden Path Entertainment is an American game developer based in Bellevue, Washington. The studio worked on VR titles such as Raccoon Lagoon, Witchblood and Brass Tactics. They also made Age of Empires II HD. However, their most noteworthy title is Counterstrike: Global Offensive. Hidden Path Entertainment worked on the massively popular FPS before Valve took over the game.
While waiting for this new Dungeons & Dragons game, you can scratch that D&D itch by trying out Baldur’s Gate 3, a game that is based on the Forgotten Realms setting.
