The launch date of Anthem of 22 February 2019 is slowly approaching. Leading up to the release, lead producers Mike Gamble, Ben Irving and game director Jon Warner streamed some gameplay featuring the Interceptor class and dungeon raid.
The Interceptor class of Javelins is the equivalent of the rogue class in other games. The Interceptor comes equipped with rapid fire weapons and the ability to travel quickly around the battlefield. Overall, the class suits players with fast playstyles.
Strongholds, the dungeon raids of Anthem, carries similarities with dungeons from World of Warcraft and Destiny’s Strikes. It consists of multiple rooms full of enemies. In order to progress, players have to clear these rooms. In addition, small objectives may accompany the progress of players. However, these objectives will only appear after clearing the enemies. Similar to standard dungeon raids, Strongholds will feature a boss each run.
Furthermore, Strongholds will use a matchmaking system to group players in a 4-man squad. Players that already have a full squad do not have to go through the matchmaking. They can start their raid straight away, ignoring the wait time.
Lastly, the developers informed that raids will not be available during the initial launch of Anthem. Instead, they added that players will have aspirational content to play when approaching the endgame.
