Capcom used its latest Capcom Spotlight to share a closer look at Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen, the upcoming expansion to Dragon’s Dogma II. Director Kento Kinoshita, who also worked on the original Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, was on hand to walk through what players can expect when the expansion launches on October 9, 2026.
The centerpiece of Dark Arisen is a brand-new story set in Norgan, a long-abandoned northern region that players have not been able to visit in the base game. The Arisen will join forces with the mysterious Eir to uncover secrets surrounding the immortal Fallen Dragon. Kinoshita detailed what Capcom is calling the Relic Expedition Cycle, which is the core loop players will follow in Norgan. During their adventures, players will discover forgotten relics that can be appraised to unlock powerful weapons and new abilities. Those new tools then allow players to push further into the region and dig deeper into its mysteries.

Beyond the main story, the expansion also adds 12 challenge dungeons. These newly discovered dungeons, called Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges, feature trials created by the Pathfinder and offer players the chance to earn rare equipment once used by previous Arisen. On top of that, character creation is getting more options, with new hair styles and tattoos available for both the Arisen and their main Pawn.
Alongside the expansion, Capcom also confirmed a second title update coming in late August that will benefit all Dragon’s Dogma II players, not just those picking up Dark Arisen. This update will improve performance across all platforms, add additional save slots, adjust the Dragonsplague condition, and increase weapon skill slots from four to six.

As for pricing, Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen releases on October 9, 2026 for $49.99, which includes the base game and the expansion. Existing owners on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam can purchase just the expansion DLC separately for $29.99. The expansion is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. On Switch 2, it will be available as a complete package including the base game.
