Busan Indie Connect Festival 2026 has officially unveiled its key visual and slogan for this year’s event, highlighting the festival’s continued focus on discovery, creativity, and community within the indie game industry.
The event is organized by the Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee together with the Busan Metropolitan City, currently led by acting mayor Kim Kyung-duk, as well as the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency.
BIC 2026 will once again operate as a hybrid event featuring both online and offline programs, continuing the festival’s global reach for indie developers and players.
The festival’s offline event will take place from August 14 to August 16 at BEXCO Exhibition Center 1 Hall 2 in Busan, South Korea, while the online component will run from August 7 through August 28.
“Buff Your Indie Spirit” Becomes the Core Theme of BIC 2026

This year’s official slogan, “Buff Your Indie Spirit,” represents the festival’s vision of empowering indie developers and strengthening connections between creators, players, and the wider gaming industry.
According to the organizers, the slogan symbolizes the moment where indie game creativity meets passionate audiences, generating energy that expands into new opportunities and possibilities for the industry. The concept revolves around the idea of “buffing” or strengthening the indie spirit through discovery, connection, and growth.
The visual direction for BIC 2026 reflects these ideas through the festival’s “UNIVERSE-INDIE” themed world design.
Three Buff Symbols Represent Discovery, Connection, and Growth

A major focus of this year’s key visual is the introduction of three symbolic “buff” icons, each representing a different pillar of the indie gaming experience.
The “Discovery” symbol uses a four-leaf clover motif to represent unexpected encounters and hidden gems among countless indie games.
The “Connection” symbol features interlocking circular nodes, representing the relationship between indie developers, gamers, and industry communities coming together through the festival.
Meanwhile, the “Growth” symbol visualizes expanding energy radiating outward, symbolizing how indie games evolve and gain momentum through collaboration and exposure.
Together, these symbols are meant to reinforce BIC’s identity as more than just a game showcase, positioning it as a global networking and discovery platform for indie creators.
BIC 2026 Continues Its Hybrid Festival Format
The Busan Indie Connect Festival has steadily grown into one of Asia’s most recognized indie game events, attracting developers and players from around the world. The hybrid format introduced in previous years will continue in 2026, allowing both in-person attendees and online participants to experience the event.
Indie game submissions for BIC 2026 are currently open, with organizers expected to reveal additional program details, featured games, and activities closer to the event date.
Joo Sung-pil, Chairman of the BIC Organizing Committee, described the festival as a platform where indie developers, gamers, and the industry can connect directly. He also stated that the team aims to deliver a variety of programs that fully embody this year’s “Buff Your Indie Spirit” message.
One of Asia’s Biggest Indie Game Festivals Returns This August
As indie games continue to grow globally, events like Busan Indie Connect Festival 2026 and its key visual remain increasingly important for helping smaller studios gain visibility and connect with audiences worldwide.
With a strong thematic identity, expanded hybrid structure, and continued industry support, BIC 2026 is positioning itself as one of the major indie gaming events of the year when it returns this August in Busan and online.
