Silver Lining Games and developer Square Glade Games have officially announced a delay for their upcoming open-world camper van exploration game Outbound, pushing its release from April 23, 2026 to May 14, 2026.
The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Outbound Launch Pushed Back for Additional Polish

Outbound is a cozy open-world experience focused on life on the road, where players travel, build, and survive in a customizable camper van while exploring a vibrant, nature-driven world.
According to Square Glade Games, the delay was made after an issue was discovered late in development that could have negatively affected player experience. The team stated that while they worked extensively to resolve the problem, there was not enough time to ensure a stable release across all planned platforms by the original date.
The developers emphasized that the decision was made to ensure a more polished and bug-free launch experience across all systems.
Official Statement From Square Glade Games

In an official message, the developers explained that the delay was not taken lightly, highlighting their efforts to remain on schedule throughout the development process.
They noted that the issue was identified late in production and could have impacted overall enjoyment of the game. As a result, the team prioritized quality assurance and stability over sticking to the original release window.
The developers also reassured players that significant effort has gone into addressing the problem and preparing the game for a stronger launch in May.
Demo Extended as an Apology to Players

As compensation for the delay, the currently available demo of Outbound will remain playable until May 12, 2026, giving players additional time to try the game ahead of release.
The demo is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, allowing players to experience early gameplay systems such as exploration, crafting, and vehicle customization.
A Cozy Open-World Adventure on the Road

Outbound focuses on a relaxed, exploration-driven experience where players build and upgrade a mobile home while traveling through a colorful open world.
Gameplay systems include crafting, resource gathering, sustainable energy management, and co-operative play for up to four players. The game emphasizes creativity and freedom, allowing players to shape their journey at their own pace.
New Release Date Set for May 14

With the new release date now confirmed, Outbound is scheduled to launch on May 14, 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
While the delay may disappoint fans eager to jump in, the developers have reiterated that the additional time will help ensure a smoother and more refined experience at launch.
