Publisher Kadokawa Corporation and Vic Game Studios, the developer behind LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS, have announced a new game titled Sentenced to Be a Hero: Game of the GODDESS. The game is based on the 2026 anime series Sentenced to Be a Hero. No details about the game’s genre or supported platforms have been shared yet.

An English release has not been confirmed, but the game’s official Twitter account posted in English saying, “Stay tuned for more updates for our international fans!”

The announcement comes alongside other big news for the franchise. During AnimeJapan on Saturday, the staff behind the Sentenced to Be a Hero television anime revealed that a second season is in the works.

The anime is based on Rocket Shokai’s light novel series, Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004. The first season premiered on January 3 on Tokyo MX with a 60-minute special episode, followed by a second episode on January 15, with new episodes airing on Thursdays. The series broadcasts across 28 channels in Japan. Amazon Prime Video Japan began streaming it on January 3, with other streaming sites following on January 6. Crunchyroll also streams the series as it airs, including a same-day English dub.

Yen Press, which publishes the light novel in English, describes the story this way:

Heroes are not volunteers — they are criminals serving a punishment. Those sentenced to become heroes are forced to fight on the front lines against a demon king’s army, dying and being revived over and over. The story centers on their leader, a man convicted of killing a goddess, who ends up meeting another goddess and forging a contract that could change the world.

The light novel originally launched on Kadokawa’s Kakuyomu website in October 2020, before Kadokawa began releasing it in print in September 2021 with illustrations by Mephisto. BookWalker Global currently offers the manga digitally in English, and Yen Press will begin releasing a physical English edition in June 2026.
