Nihon Falcom announced that Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will launch worldwide in 2026. The game will be available on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. A special teaser website went live the same day to mark the announcement.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is a full 3D remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, the second mainline game in Falcom’s turn-based RPG series. The game picks up directly after Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, following Estelle’s journey through Liberl. Players will uncover the secrets of Ouroboros while searching for her partner Joshua, who disappeared after the plot twist at the end of the first game.
In an interview with AUTOMATON, Nihon Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo revealed that Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter was developed alongside the 1st Chapter remake. While the original FC and SC had a two-year gap between releases, Kondo said they wanted to “avoid such a long gap” this time. The announcement came just a couple of months after Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter launched.
The first remake, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, became Nihon Falcom’s most successful Steam release to date with the highest number of concurrent players—a result that surpassed even the developers’ own expectations. The game received an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam and a Metascore of 88. Players praised its improved gameplay and graphics, along with a longer story that stays true to the original.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will launch in 2026 for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
