Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios have released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition for Nintendo Switch 2. Players who own the Anniversary Edition on the original Nintendo Switch can upgrade at no extra cost. This launch continues Skyrim’s long history of reaching new platforms while offering Switch 2 owners a major RPG early in the system’s lifecycle.
Skyrim Anniversary Edition first arrived on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2021. It then made its way to the original Nintendo Switch in 2022. The Nintendo Switch 2 release introduces several improvements designed to take advantage of Nintendo’s updated hardware.
Enhanced Visuals and Faster Load Times

The Nintendo Switch 2 version brings higher resolution, quicker load times and better performance across the board. These enhancements aim to make the experience smoother than it was on the original Switch. Players will see more detailed environments and enjoy fewer interruptions while exploring the game’s large open world.
This edition contains the full base game and its three expansions: Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. It also includes hundreds of Creation Club items. These items add extra quests, weapons, armor, spells and dungeons. The content is packaged into a single release that is accessible to both new and returning players.
A Flexible Experience for New and Returning Players

Skyrim remains popular because it allows players to craft their own style of adventure. They can focus on stealth, melee combat, magic or a mix of all three. The Nintendo Switch 2 version keeps this freedom intact. It also offers better performance, making exploration and combat feel more fluid on the new system.
Players who already purchased the base game on the original Nintendo Switch can buy the Anniversary Upgrade. Once they do, they will be able to download the enhanced version on Nintendo Switch 2. This gives long-time owners a direct path to the updated release without starting over.
Continuing Skyrim’s Legacy on Modern Hardware

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition reinforces Skyrim’s status as one of the most adaptable RPGs on the market. The improved visuals and faster performance help modernize the game while preserving what made it successful. The launch trailer highlights these upgrades and shows how well the title fits on Nintendo’s new hardware.
With this release, Skyrim continues its journey across console generations. The Nintendo Switch 2 version offers both convenience and quality, giving players another way to return to Tamriel or explore it for the first time.
