Capcom’s latest financial report indicates a continued slowdown in Monster Hunter Wilds’ post-launch sales, following its record-breaking debut earlier this year.
According to the company’s financial results for the quarter ending September 30, 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds sold around 160,000 units during the period. This marks a decrease from the previous quarter’s 477,000 units — a figure Capcom had previously described as “soft.”

Despite the slower momentum, Monster Hunter Wilds remains one of the company’s strongest performers this fiscal year. The title achieved a massive 10 million units sold within its first month, setting a new launch record for Capcom and making it the best-selling game of 2025 in the United States based on dollar sales data up to August, according to Circana.
Comparison to Monster Hunter World

In comparison, Monster Hunter World — the series’ best-selling title with over 28 million units sold — maintained stronger long-term sales following its January 2018 launch. While World debuted with 7.9 million copies sold, it continued to ship over a million units per quarter for several years, eventually doubling its total through the Iceborne expansion and bundled re-releases.
Interestingly, Capcom’s data suggests that Wilds’ lifetime sales so far are roughly in line with World’s performance at the same point in its release cycle, with both titles reaching around 10.7 million units by the equivalent reporting period.
Factors Influencing Sales

Capcom President Haruhito Tsujimoto acknowledged several factors affecting Wilds’ current sales momentum. He pointed to the high price of PlayStation 5 consoles, suggesting it may limit access for younger audiences. Additionally, the PC version of the game has faced criticism over performance issues, which Capcom has committed to addressing with updates planned for this winter and beyond.
Industry analyst Dr. Serkan Toto of Kantan Games also highlighted the changing market landscape since World’s release. He noted that competition among major AAA games has intensified, and that economic conditions have reduced consumer spending power.
Capcom’s Broader Performance

Even with the slower sales of Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom continues to report strong overall results driven by its extensive back catalog. Discounted titles like Street Fighter 6, Devil May Cry HD Collection, and Monster Hunter Rise contributed to record catalogue sales during the first half of the fiscal year.
Looking ahead, Capcom aims to maintain momentum through future updates for Monster Hunter Wilds and upcoming major releases, including Resident Evil Requiem.
