A Necessary Delay To Ensure Quality
Frogwares has officially delayed The Sinking City 2 to the first half of 2026. The studio, based in Ukraine, explained that the ongoing war continues to cause unpredictable challenges. These include drone attacks, power outages, and constant adaptation to unstable conditions.

Instead of rushing, Frogwares chose to take extra time to deliver a polished final product. The team said this delay will help ensure the game reaches the quality that players expect. Although the wait will be longer, they believe the end result will justify the patience.
From Investigation To Survival Horror
This sequel marks Frogwares’ first full step into the survival horror genre. It’s a big shift from their previous investigative adventure games. The new focus on tension, pacing, and combat has made development both exciting and demanding.

The team explained that every sound, shadow, and small detail matters when crafting fear. The extra time will let them fine-tune the mechanics and make sure every moment feels unsettling. They also aim to combine their signature storytelling with darker, more cinematic horror elements.
New Screenshots Offer A Glimpse Of Progress
To coincide with the delay announcement, Frogwares shared 13 new work-in-progress screenshots. These images highlight the flooded streets of Arkham, eerie interiors, and terrifying eldritch monsters.

The screenshots also show progress in lighting, atmosphere, and character detail. Even though the game is still in development, it’s clear the studio has made huge visual strides. Each new image teases the haunting world players will soon explore.
Unreal Engine 5 Powers The Horror
Frogwares also discussed how Unreal Engine 5 is shaping The Sinking City 2. Using UE5’s MetaHuman, Lumen, and Nanite technologies, the team can push realism and atmosphere further than before.

In an interview with Epic Games Store, they explained that these tools bring more responsive environments and dynamic lighting. They also give players more control during investigation sequences, creating a deeper sense of immersion. Frogwares plans to share new gameplay footage and developer insights in the coming months.
