Bethesda is preparing to launch Fallout 76’s biggest update yet with Season 23: Burning Springs. This expansion brings a new region, bounty hunting gameplay, and direct connections to the upcoming second season of Amazon’s Fallout TV series.
Fallout 76 has grown significantly since its launch. The game has received 62 major patches and 23 free content updates, each adding new storylines and features to Appalachia. Past updates brought human NPCs with Wastelanders, the Brotherhood of Steel storyline in Steel Reign, and expeditions to locations like The Pitt and Atlantic City. The recent Skyline Valley update added the Lost faction and gave players the option to become ghouls. Burning Springs continues this trend of regular content additions.

The New Burning Springs Region
The main addition is a new region called Burning Springs, located northwest of Appalachia in Ohio. The area takes inspiration from Fallout 3 and New Vegas, featuring a desert setting with Deathclaws and Raiders. The region launches in December alongside the second season of the Fallout TV series.
Players will find two new public events in the region: Gear It Up and Sinkhole Solutions. Both events offer challenging encounters and rewards for players to earn.

Bounty Hunting with The Ghoul
Burning Springs introduces bounty hunting as a new activity. Players can pick up bounty contracts at The Last Resort in Highwaytown, a new settlement in the region. The feature includes The Ghoul as an NPC, with Walton Goggins returning to voice the character from the TV series.
Bounty hunting has two types: Grunt Hunts are shorter missions that reward XP, caps, and legendary gear. Head Hunts are larger public events that require more coordination and offer unique character mods for both human and ghoul players.

Recent updates have improved the Camp Workshop UI, making it easier to browse through the game’s 6,000+ items. Building restrictions have been reduced, giving players more freedom when creating their camps. The fishing system now includes 50 different species to catch.
What to Expect
Burning Springs brings together new content, improved features, and connections to the Fallout TV series. The December update adds a new region to explore, bounty hunting activities, and gameplay improvements for both new and returning players.
