Magic: The Gathering is preparing to launch one of its most ambitious Universes Beyond sets yet with the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man expansion. Following crossovers with Doctor Who, Transformers, Dungeons & Dragons, and Final Fantasy, this collaboration marks the trading card game’s 107th card set. It brings the world of Spider-Man and his rogues’ gallery into the timeless gameplay of MTG, giving fans the chance to mix classic mechanics with iconic Marvel storylines.
Green Goblin Joins the Game with Mayhem

As part of the reveal season, three new Green Goblin-themed cards have been introduced, which are the Pumpkin Bombardment (Sorcery), Rocket-Powered Goblin Glider (Equipment), and Oscorp Industries (Land). Each of these designs highlights the villain’s trademark weapons, his signature vehicle, and his home base. They also synergize with the new Mayhem keyword, which allows players to cast cards from the graveyard if they were discarded earlier in the same turn.
The Green Goblin presence doesn’t stop there. Four different versions of the character are included in the set, featuring Norman Osborn, Green Goblin Nemesis, Ultimate Green Goblin, and Green Goblin Revenant. All of these variants lean into the same Mayhem mechanics across Blue, Black, and Red colors, opening up fresh possibilities for goblin-focused decks. Combined with classic Goblin cards from past Magic sets, this could create some of the most chaotic and aggressive builds yet.
Iconic Spider-Man Moments Recreated in MTG

Beyond the Green Goblin, other reveals have spotlighted famous moments from Spider-Man comics. The Death of Gwen Stacy card captures one of the most emotional events in the hero’s history, while cards like Friendly Neighborhood (Enchantment) and Villainous Wrath (Sorcery) expand on the series’ core themes of heroism and tragedy. With Marvel’s Spider-Man set, Wizards of the Coast is leaning into the emotional storytelling that has long defined both Spider-Man and Magic: The Gathering.
Welcome Decks for New Players

To make the Spider-Man crossover even more accessible, Wizards of the Coast is also releasing Marvel’s Spider-Man Welcome Decks. These decks are designed specifically for newcomers to the game and provide an approachable way to learn how to play. Each Welcome Deck contains two 30-card decks, one of a set color and the other randomly chosen from the remaining colors.
There are five different Welcome Decks available, White, Blue, Black, Red, and Green and each includes cards from the main Spider-Man set marked with the SPM set code. These cards will be Standard-legal once the set launches. Additionally, each deck comes with one Spiderweb land card, a special thematic land type unique to the Spider-Man expansion.
Exclusive Cards in the Welcome Decks
In addition to the main set cards, the Welcome Decks also feature unique SPE-coded cards created specifically for teaching new players. These are not Standard-legal but can be found in both the Welcome Decks and in Collector Boosters as traditional foils. The lineup includes 5 common, 5 uncommon, 6 rare, and 5 mythic rare SPE cards, giving new players a taste of the variety and rarity system in MTG.
Release Date and What’s Next
Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man officially releases on September 26, 2025. With the majority of the card set now revealed, only a few surprises remain before launch. Between the addition of Green Goblin’s arsenal, iconic Spider-Man storylines, and beginner-friendly Welcome Decks, this crossover looks set to deliver both nostalgia for Marvel fans and fresh strategies for MTG players.
