SEGA has officially announced Project ONSOKU, and exciting music collaboration between the world’s fastest hedgehog, Sonic, and the virtual pop icon, Hatsune Miku.
The project delivers a series of original tracks, music videos, and exclusice in-game content tied to the upcoming Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which launches on Septemer 25, 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 , Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Game Store.
Project ONSOKU: A Fusion of Speed and Music

Project ONSOKU will showcase five original songs and music videos, each crafted by a different artist and released weekly. These songs won’t just be available online, but also become background music in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, letting players race to the beat of a brand-new soundtrack.
The first track, “SAI LOVE JINSEI RUNNER” by Kairiki bear, is already available along with its official music video. Designed with cover art by illustrator Nou, the song embodies the rush and thrill of Sonic’s early adventures, with Kairiki bear describing it as a high-speed roller coaster of sound meant to inspire listeners to keep moving forward.
Future tracks will include works by cosMo@Bousou-P, Yunosuke, Ponchi♪, and Camellia, with new releases dropping every week throughout September.
Hatsune Miku Joins Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

As part of the collaboration, Hatsune Miku will be added as a free DLC racer in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Players will be able to take control of Miku alongside her futuristic machine, the Diva Macchina, while listening to tracks from Project ONSOKU.
Hatsune Miku, originally developed by Crypton Future Media as a voice synthesiser software, has grown into a cultural icon with global recognition. Known for her countless Vocaloid hits, concerts, and collaborations, Miku continues to expand her presence across gaming and pop culture. Her arrival in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds solidifies her crossover appeal in SEGA’s latest racing title.
Open Network Test and Joker Festival

Before its official release, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will host a free Open Network Test from August 29 to September 2 GMT+8. Players on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games will be able to test the game’s crossplay functionality, high-speed racing, and dynamic courses.
In addition, the Joker Festival event will run from August 31 to September 1 GMT+8, giving players the chance to try out the Persona 5 Royal crossover racer, Joker, along with his signature machine, the Arsène Wing.
Project ONSOKU Begins
Project ONSOKU is more than just a music tie-in, it’s a celebration of Sonic’s legacy and the global phenomenon that is Hatsune Miku. With weekly music releases, exclusive in-game content, and free playable updates, this collaboration sets the stage for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds to launch in style this September.
