Wargaming, the award-winning studio behind World of Tanks, has announced the game’s most ambitious overhaul yet. World of Tanks 2.0 launches on September 1 and ushers in a bold new era for the franchise.
A Landmark Update for World of Tanks
For the first time, players will command Tier XI tanks. Sixteen new vehicles debut with unique mechanics and a fresh progression system. Furthermore, Wargaming confirmed plans to release additional Tier XI tanks in future updates, ensuring the excitement continues well beyond launch.

In addition, the team has rebalanced over 350 vehicles across all tiers. This major change provides commanders with smarter battlefield roles, improved balance, and fairer gameplay. As a result, every fight feels more strategic and rewarding.
Revamped Hangar, UI, and Matchmaker

Alongside new vehicles, World of Tanks 2.0 introduces a completely redesigned Hangar. Players will now see a bustling tank factory where vehicles assemble, equip, and prepare for combat. Moreover, the refreshed UI delivers clearer menus and makes navigation more intuitive.

To complement these upgrades, developers also created a new matchmaker from the ground up. Consequently, players can expect faster queues, better team balance, and more dynamic battles.
New Map and Story-Driven PvE Mode
The update also delivers Nordskar, a long-awaited Scandinavian-inspired battlefield. At the same time, the “Operation Boiling Point” PvE event sets the narrative stage for Tier XI vehicles. In this mode, players can test three different tanks in fresh scenarios that expand the game’s lore.

Meanwhile, the update enhances immersion with an audio upgrade. Engineers recorded authentic tank sounds to capture heavier effects, clearer combat audio, and richer environmental detail. Therefore, every battle now feels more intense and realistic.
A Defining Moment for the Franchise

“2.0 isn’t just an update—it’s the cornerstone of World of Tanks’ future development,” said Michael Broek, Publishing Director West. “After two years of hard work, we’re thrilled to deliver an experience that appeals to veterans, newcomers, and returning players alike.”
Ultimately, World of Tanks 2.0 goes live on September 1. Players can learn more and explore all details of world of tanks 2.0 update by visiting the official website.
