BitSummit, Japan’s biggest independent game festival, will feature major music acts performing at this year’s event. The festival will run from July 18-20, 2025, at Miyako Messe in Kyoto Bitsummit, with some of the most famous names in gaming music and development taking the stage on Saturday, July 19.
He’ll perform with his band conTIKI, which he formed in 2021. The band often includes solo segments featuring Final Fantasy arrangements from their 2022 album Modulation and their latest project Akarigatari, which mixes music with storytelling and visuals.

“Thank you for inviting me to BitSummit. I have never performed in Kyoto with an orchestra or band before, so this BitSummit will be my debut in Kyoto,” Uematsu said about his first appearance at the event.
Hirokazu “Chip” Tanaka, the sound designer behind Game Boy Camera and music for Metroid, MOTHER, and Tetris, will perform on July 20. Tanaka has been making chiptune music since 2007 and brings years of game sound experience to his electronic style.
Harumi Fujita, known as OkanP, will also perform at the festival. She’s a veteran game composer who worked at Capcom on games like Mega Man 3, Final Fight, and Tomba!. Recently, she became famous on TikTok with her video “Can you make a song like Rockman?” which got over 2.8 million views and helped her gain more than 300,000 followers. At BitSummit, she’ll create a brand new track live on stage.
Gaming Industry Veterans Join the Discussion
The festival will also feature talks from well-known game creators. Kaz Ayabe, who created the Boku no Natsuyasumi series and games like Natsu-Mon! and Attack of the Friday Monsters!, will speak about his journey from early work to creating his own studio, Millennium Kitchen.
Hideki Kamiya, founder of Clovers Inc. and creator of games like Bayonetta, Okami, and Resident Evil 2, will appear alongside Crystal Noda, who makes the Noda Game party game series. Together, they’ll talk about how technology and creativity are changing game development.

Jiro Ishii, best known for 428: Shibuya Scramble, will present his new game called Shibuya Scramble Stories. BitSummit will host the first public look at this new story-focused project.
The event brings together both music and gaming industry legends, making it a must-see for fans of Japanese gaming culture. With performances, talks, and game reveals, BitSummit the 13th offers something for everyone interested in independent games and the creative minds behind them.
