Dynasty Warriors: Origins Set to Launch on January 17, 2025

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have announced that Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the latest installment in the popular hack-and-slash franchise, will be released on January 17, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game, developed by Omega Force, introduces a fresh take on the series’ signature 1 vs. 1,000 gameplay style.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins features a new protagonist – a nameless martial artist with amnesia who becomes embroiled in the conflicts of the Three Kingdoms period in ancient China. Furthermore, players will experience the story through this character’s perspective, making choices that impact the narrative.

The game promises to deliver intense combat, with players able to fight solo or alongside allied officers and soldiers. Strategic elements include commanding units and utilizing the strength of accompanying Musou officers. Additionally, a notable feature is the ability to temporarily control powerful allied officers under certain battle conditions. Likewise, familiar faces from the Dynasty Warriors series will make appearances, including the formidable Lu Bu.

In addition, a new continental map feature allows players to explore China between battles, providing context to the locations and enhancing the understanding of the game’s setting, particularly for those new to the Three Kingdoms era.

Players can explore the land as they move between battlefields, and it also provides a better understanding on where specific battlefields and cities are located, so those who are completely new to the Three Kingdoms have nothing to worry about as the map helps you learn even more about the vast land you are now discovering.

Moreover, Tomohiko Sho, the game’s producer and Head of Omega Force at Koei Tecmo Games, expressed excitement about introducing players to this new take on the Three Kingdoms story.

“When we announced Dynasty Warriors: Origins back in May, the team at Koei Tecmo and Omega Force were ecstatic to hear from fans worldwide who have been waiting to experience the next evolution of Dynasty Warriors. Today, we’re excited to share here first that the game will be available on January 17, 2025,” said Sho.
