Dead by Daylight Studio Behaviour Interactive to Lay Off Up to 95 Staff

Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, planned to lay off up to 95 staff, with 70 of those that will be affected by the cuts based in its Montreal office.

The layoffs would impact approximately 7% of the company’s 1,300 employees. The studio had a remarkable growth over the past 5 years, in which the studio shared its growth trajectory from 575 to 1,300 staff.

“However, the industry’s unprecedented popularity has also led to unprecedented competition,” Behaviour Interactive said, further adding that it has narrowed back its focus on “historical strengths”, which include the horror genre, its “production expertise, and its thirty-year history of providing exceptional service to its development partners”.

“These strengths have inspired clear ambitions for the Company’s future – lead in horror, lead in service, and explore the possibilities of location-based entertainment.

“To pursue this clarified vision, Behaviour will implement multiple strategic changes to its corporate structure, improving the distinction between its product, production, business development, and marketing resources.”

The company clarified that the development of Dead by Daylight is not impacted by the changes, nor is its service business.

Previously in January of this year, Behaviour Interactive had laid off around 45 staff across different departments at its Montreal headquarters.
