Another trip back to the Red Winter hot springs, and this time we have Shigure to greet us in the Hot Spring Resort No.227 in Blue Archive.
When a hot spring suddenly erupted in the Former Institute, Shigure and Nodoka opened a huge spring resort. As one of the Spec Ops students who run the Hot Spring Resort No.227, she now dons a yukata to better fit her job.
In this guide for Shigure (Hot Springs), we will break down her skills, and role, and also suggest some potential use cases, as well as compare her to other similar characters already available in the game. Then finally say if you should spend your resources pulling and building her.
Note that this guide will be an early first impression of the newly released character, and her overall performances and usability may differ over time.
Based on JP data, Shigure (Hot Spring) is a Special type student with the healer role. Her attack type is Penetration while her defense type is Special, which means she deals more damage to Heavy type enemies while taking less damage from Explosive type enemies, although as a Special type student, she cannot take damage directly, so the defense type is not exactly important.
In terms of Terrain, the character favors Indoor Warfare with Excellent Affinity, while having Neutral Affinity in Urban Warfare and Terrible Affinity in Field Warfare, and while this usually means you should avoid using her in Field Warfare stages, her role is not affected too much by the terrain types, this will be explained later.
With a grenade launcher as her weapon, she will have the following stats at LVL 87, with Affection Rank at LVL 10 with Tier 7 equipment at base Mystic level (3*).
- Max HP: 41,350
- Attack: 3,789
- Healing: 11,590
As a healer, the most important stat would be healing, and here she does boast a very high number of 11590, which is even higher than Nodoka (Hot Spring) on the same level, which is 11493.
Of course, as a Special Type student, her Max HP and Attack will contribute their stats to the striker students, and with rather high numbers on both, she acts as a strong base support as is.

EX Skill – Shigure’s Special Fruit Milk (Cost: 5)
- Recover HP by 40.4% of Healing for all allies within a circular area every 4 seconds for 30 seconds
- It’s worth noting that the skill cost is originally 6, and it is only reduced to 5 at Level 5.

Basic Skill – Want a Bite?
- Every 50 seconds, heal 4 allies with the lowest HP by 128% of Healing.

Enhanced Skill – Four-and-a-Half Tatami Mats
- Increase Healing by 26.6%.

- Increase Critical Damage of all allies by 17.3%.
Skill Breakdown
Judging from her kit, it’s not hard to tell what her main focus is – healing, Shigure (Hot Spring) is a character that has her entire kit revolving around massive healing potential for her team while providing a small amount of critical damage for striker students.
Both her EX Skill and Basic Skill provide absurd healing for the team, with EX Skill providing a total of 282.8% of her Healing for all teammates if they stay within the field. Her Basic Skill further adds to this amount, with a 128% heal to all teammates (given that the maximum number of students in a team is 4) with each activation, effectively making it a 640% healing potential with each activation.
These numbers make her one of the stronger healers in the game based on pure numbers. However, due to the mobile nature of battles in Blue Archive, and the fact that it takes time for her skills to does limit her from fully utilizing her healing, her Basic Skill does help in mitigating that weakness.
Usage
Now, having a lot of healing is nice, as it helps in ensuring the survival of your students so they can commit more war crimes. But in this case, it becomes the main drawback for the character.
As discussed before, Shigure (Hot Spring) is a healer through and through, with her healing potential being one of if not, the most notable in Blue Archive, rivaling other popular healers such as Nodoka (Hot Spring) and Atsuko, but the main problem is that healing is the only thing she excels in, whereas she loses in many other utility.
Nodoka (Hot Spring) provides great healing in addition to increasing Recovery Boost, and Atsuko, while having lower healing numbers, is a striker student who moves with the team, allowing her to easily utilize her full healing potential.
Even when comparing her Sub Skill against other Special Type healer students, her increase in Critical Damage for allies is less beneficial when compared to say, Nodoka (Hot Spring) with her overall Attack increase, or Serina who provides Crowd Control Resistance for the team.
Being in a niche in any gacha game will cause you to be less useful than others, and have an absurd amount of healing as your niche is usually not favorable in Blue Archive. Not only are you limited in flexibility in a niche that’s pretty situational, but there are also rarely any cases where such a high amount of healing is ever needed.
However, there is one particular case in the current version where Shigure (Hot Spring) may potentially shine, and that is against the Raid Boss Hieronymus. The boss forces players to utilize large amounts of healing during battle. Shigure (Hot Spring) will be able to help light up the lanterns and speed up the fight. The high healing numbers and long-lasting healing effect can also allow her to heal the lantern even after healing reduction is applied.
Don’t get me wrong, even though it seems that the analysis is making her look like a pretty bad character. Being a student who provides a large amount of healing, while also being the only healer with a unique 4-student heal on a Basic Skill makes her exceptionally valuable on content where survivability is key. It’s just that in the current version of the Blue Archive EN server, content that requires this amount of healing is few and far between, and many other Special students can provide more value in most situations.
So, Should You Pull?
Judging from the current environment of Blue Archive, her niche revolving completely around healing, coupled with a rather inflexible EX Skill makes her usage quite limited. However, being a student who provides some of the best healing does hold value, and as in-game content gets progressively harder, there will only be more potential for the character to come into the meta.
It’s worth noting however that currently in the JP servers, there is a mode known as Unrestricted Assault that allows players to bring 10 students. Here, her Basic Skill of healing four allies at once becomes an incredibly valuable asset to have, and her high AOE healing helps keep the team alive, so if you want to prepare for this upcoming content, Shigure (Hot Spring) will definitely be a must pull for those looking to challenge it.
And of course, if you’re somebody who doesn’t care about the meta side of things, I mean Shigure (Hot Spring) definitely helps with consistency in auto battles, ensuring a comfy experience for those who want to go into battle and AFK.
