Comic Fiesta will be making their return in 2023 spanning across a weekend filled with all sorts of activities, events, and performances that avid Anime, Comic, and Games (ACG) convention goers can look forward to.

Happening at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on the 23rd and 24th of December 2023, Comic Fiesta is Malaysia’s biggest ACG convention that brings in a slice of Japanese culture right to your doorstep. With the convention on the horizon, here’s some reasons why you should check out Comic Fiesta.

Dress Up As Your Favourite Characters

Possibly one of the main highlights with Comic Fiesta 2023 is the cosplays, whether you want to catch the attention of con-goers as you dress up as your favourite characters from the hottest anime, or just want to look in awe at all the extravagant cosplays while walking around KLCC.

This year’s Comic Fiesta has you covered with two Cosplay themed competitions in “60 Seconds of Anything”, where contestants will be given on minute on-stage to woo the crowd as they present themselves as the character that they’re cosplaying as, whether it be through action poses, a short skit, or a dance, the floor is yours.

There’s another Cosplay competition in “One-True-Pair” where contestants will be paired into twos in a three to 5 free skits session. Whichever competition you’re joining, cosplayers can take this opportunity to express themselves as the spotlight shines on them.

Vtuber Goodness

Vtubers have definitely taken the internet by storm in recent years, there’s just some allure to watching colourful portraits of anime girls yelling and screaming at a game, as well as the occasional idol performances that bless your ears.

Instead of watching your favourite oshis through a computer screen at home, you can watch your favourite oshis through a screen on the big stage. Hololive will be bringing in the viv:ID CRUISE to Comic Fiesta as part of the hololive Meet Asia Tour.

On the first day of Comic Fiesta, catch Ayunda Risu, Moona Hoshinova, Pavolia Reine, and Kobo Kanaeru perform “All Aboard! viv:ID CRUISE ~Bokura ga kuru kara~” live on stage.

Additionally, both Sakura Miko and Hoshimachi Suisei will also be featured on a talk show for both days, with merchandise being available to be purchased at the hololive Meet booth, making it the opportune time to show off your oshis proudly.

Musical Performances

What’s an ACG event without some musical performances? To cap off the weekend of Comic Fiesta, tune into musical performances by special guests ASCA and spira spica from SACRA MUSIC.

ASCA is best known for her work in various series from Howling from The Irregular at Magic High School, RESISTER from Sword Art Online: Alicization, Koe from Fate/Apocrypha and many more. While spira spica is best known for Sansan Days from My Dress-Up Darling, Start Dash from Gundam Build Divers and many more.

It’s definitely safe to say that anime fans will have their fill on some of the hottest and head bobbing anime tracks.

Game On

That’s not all, SEGA had previously made an announcement saying that this year marks the first time that company will be attending Comic Fiesta, on top of having a booth of their own. The company had also previously made appearances at several other SEA conventions, notably Indonesia Comic Con, Thailand Game Show 2023, and Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit.

For fans of the company, head on over to SEGA’s booth and try out an array of the company’s upcoming titles, from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, and more, making it a pretty exciting chance considering if you’re itching to try out those titles but never had the chance to head over to other conventions in different countries.

All in all, if Comic Fiesta manages to retain that magical feeling from last year’s event, it’s safe to assume that Comic Fiesta 2023 will be filled with an assortment of exciting performances, events and activities to end the year with a bang.
