The upcoming installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, set in 9th century Baghdad, will include the Muslim call to prayer, Azan, in the game’s city.

As you climb the buildings in the city of Baghdad in “Assassin’s Creed: Mirage,” the Azan will be audible, adding to the immersive experience.

This was highlighted by a senior manager at Ubisoft who goes by the Twitter handle Malekawt.

As per the tweet, Malekawt tweeted:

“One of my favorite parts of the new Assassins Creed: Mirage diary that dropped today is the confirmation that indeed you will be able to hear the Azan (أذان), the Muslim call to prayer, within the game world!

A lot of care was put into this game. Less than two months left!”

This a great detail added in by the developers and will do a lot at enhancing player immersion in the game, considering that Baghdad was the center of the Caliphate during the Golden Age of Islam, offering players a deeper connection to its historical context.

Apart from this, Ubisoft released gameplay footage two months ago, featuring characters uttering Islamic phrases like “Alhamdulillah” (praise be to God), which indicates the portrayal of practicing Muslim characters within the game.

“Assassin’s Creed: Mirage” takes place several years prior to the events of “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.” The game’s scale will be more modest compared to previous entries like “Valhalla” and “Odyssey,” as Ubisoft shifts its focus towards prioritizing content quality over quantity in their future endeavors.

Ubisoft announced last week that the game has gone gold and will release on October 5th 2023.
