Romancelvania an indie Metroidvania game will dating sim elements will launch for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on the 7th of March 2023. A version for the Switch will arrive at a later date and the previously announced PS4 version has now been canceled.

The game’s Steam page describes the game as a “loving parody of Metroidvanias and fresh take on dating in games.”

“You play as the legendary playboy vampire himself, Drac, as he battles and romances his way across Transylvania. After being reluctantly recruited by the Grim Reaper to star in a “reality dating show,” he’s on a mission to find the world’s most eligible monsters, get them to move into his party mansion, and restore his former glory by killing everything in his path along the way. Will Drac find “Love at first Bite,” or will he discover “Love Sucks”?

The game features 12 different monstrous contestants for Drac to either romance, befriend or destroy all of whom are fully voice-acted. In terms of gameplay, the game takes clear inspiration from the Castlevania franchise being a side scroller with exploration-based platforming. There will also be a heavy focus on weapon and magic-based combat.

With Valentines Day just passing and Konami still leaving Castlevania in its grave, perhaps it’s time to start a new relationship and Romancelvania is preparing a monster mash of its own.
