Unreal Engine 6 has been confirmed to exist, and it made its debut in the most unexpected way: through a Rocket League announcement. At the Rocket League Championship Series 2026 Paris Major, developer Psyonix revealed what it calls a “new era” for Rocket League, the free-to-play vehicular soccer game. As part of that reveal, a teaser trailer was shown that featured the game running on Unreal Engine 6, marking the first time the engine successor has been publicly shown.

The trailer appeared to highlight visual upgrades, particularly in lighting, though no technical details about Unreal Engine 6 itself were shared. Psyonix also has not given specifics on what the new era for Rocket League actually means for the game. This is a notable moment for the industry simply because Unreal Engine 5 is not that old. It first launched back in 2020 alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, making the jump to a sixth generation relatively quick.
