With exactly one month remaining until Tokyo Game Show 2026 opens its doors, organizers launched a special website today dedicated to the event’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The site brings together three decades of TGS since its first event in 1996, including a timeline covering the show’s full history and a gallery of past event posters. Updates on this year’s various 30th-anniversary initiatives will also be added to the site as they roll out.
CESA, the organization behind Tokyo Game Show, is marking its own 30th anniversary this year as well and will open a separate CESA 30th Anniversary Special Website on August 26. Alongside that launch, CESA will introduce an online trivia game called the CESA Game Certification, or CESA Game Kentei, letting visitors test their knowledge of 30 years of Japanese gaming history and culture. The quiz will be open to anyone once the site goes live.

Along with the website, organizers also revealed the full lineup of special initiatives planned for the anniversary year. A 30th Anniversary Ticket will be sold as a premium, made-to-order item that comes with a pure gold medal featuring artwork from popular game titles, with sales open through September 8. A new “30th Anniversary Title Talk Stage” series will bring together producers from well-known games that are also celebrating their own anniversaries this year, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and insights into their titles. The first episode streams on September 11, with a second episode and live talk stages planned for the event itself.
The show floor will also feature a panel exhibition called “30 Years of Tokyo Game Show & Gaming History,” tracing the industry’s path from 1996 to today through past Japan Game Awards winners, major industry milestones, and hit titles, set alongside snapshots of each era such as stock prices, exchange rates, buzzwords, and popular songs.

With the anniversary website now live and the full slate of 30th-anniversary activities laid out, organizers have given fans a clear picture of how Tokyo Game Show 2026 plans to mark its milestone year ahead of the show’s opening next month.
