MAGES and Spike Chunsoft have confirmed release dates and new details for the Western launch of STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT through the game’s official website. The game will first arrive on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam on August 20, 2026. Players on Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 will have to wait a little longer, as those versions are set to release on October 29, 2026.
RE:BOOT is built on the scenario from STEINS;GATE ELITE, but it is far from a straight port. The game adds new dialogue, reworked pacing, and a completely new worldline along with a new ending scenario that was not part of any previous release. The total amount of story text has also been significantly expanded compared to earlier versions.

On the visual side, all character art, backgrounds, and event illustrations have been recreated from scratch. The number of event CGs has been doubled compared to the original Xbox 360 release, and background artwork has grown by around 20%. The game also introduces E-mote animation technology, which gives characters animated facial expressions, breathing, and small subtle movements during scenes.
Audio has received the same level of attention. Voice acting has been fully re-recorded, and the music has been remade by original composer Takeshi Abo. For those picking up a physical copy, the Western release will come with a Steelbook featuring newly drawn art by huke, as well as a 4.5-inch water-resistant sticker. Physical copies will only be available for Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
