Square Enix has announced that FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS will shut down on October 6 at 11:00 p.m. PT, which is October 7 at 2:00 a.m. ET and 3:00 p.m. JST. The news was shared through an official statement on the game’s website. Ever Crisis is a free-to-play RPG that first came out for iOS and Android on September 7, 2023. A PC version followed on Steam later that year, on December 7, 2023.

In its announcement, the Ever Crisis management team said the decision was made after careful consideration, noting that it would be difficult to keep providing the same level of service going forward. The team also apologized for how sudden the announcement may feel to players.

Square Enix laid out a clear schedule leading up to the shutdown. The end of service notice went live the same day sales of Red Crystals, the game’s paid currency, came to a stop. Any Red Crystals players already own can still be spent up until the service officially ends. In-game events are expected to continue releasing and updating during this final stretch, right up to the shutdown date. Once the game goes offline, account information will be deleted as part of the shutdown process, in order to protect user privacy.

Players in Taiwan will have a separate process for handling unused paid in-game currency. Square Enix said more details on this refund process will be shared later, both in-game and on the official website. Taiwanese players seeking a refund will need to have their account verified, so the company is asking them not to delete the app or switch devices and reinstall it until that process is finished. This refund option is only available to users residing in Taiwan. With the shutdown date now set, players have until October 6 to continue playing Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis before the servers go dark for good.
