Smite 2 Officially Announced, Will be a New Standalone Sequel

Titan Forge Games, the studio behind Smite, has announced a new standalone sequel in Smite 2, during the Smite World Championship 2024.

The original Smite servers will still remain active when the sequel launches, so players won’t need to worry about lost items as all gems that are spent in the original game will be converted into Legacy Gems in Smite 2, as well as the inclusion of  cross-generation skins that will work on both games.

Along with visual upgrades and new animations and effects for Smite’s roster of playable Gods, Smite 2 will also include several gameplay improvements such as new abilities for certain characters, a brand new backend and matchmaking system, new map features, and a new user interface.

The game will official launch as a free-to-play title with about 50 Gods being available to the player during launch, with new Gods being planned for the sequel, starting with the Greek Goddess of sorcery, Hecate, who will be available to play as part of the Smite 2 alpha playtest.

Titan Forge Games also said that the sequel title will see a new God every two weeks for the first two years, where the goal is to break the 100 Gods mark.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, Smite 2 is set to launch for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the game beginning an early alpha playtest coming in Spring 2024.
