ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) Malaysia today announced that pre-orders for the new ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X gaming handhelds has begun. Pre-orders are available exclusively through the ASUS e-Store, with wider availability from authorized ASUS resellers between October 6 and October 15.
A Partnership Between ROG and Xbox
Developed in collaboration with Xbox, the ROG Xbox Ally series delivers the performance of PC gaming with the accessibility of a console-like design. Both handhelds feature full-HD displays, ergonomics modeled after the Xbox Wireless Controller for all-day comfort, and seamless integration with Windows 11. Gamers will also benefit from an aggregated library that brings together installed games from leading PC storefronts in a single, accessible hub.
ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X
The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X share the same 7-inch 1080p IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and AMD FreeSync Premium support. However, their internal specifications and performance capabilities distinguish them as two devices tailored for different types of gamers.
The ROG Xbox Ally is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, designed for efficiency without compromising performance. With 16GB of LPDDR5X-6400 memory and a 512GB M.2 SSD, it delivers smooth experiences across modern titles while remaining lighter at 670g. Its 60Wh battery provides a significant endurance boost compared to the original ROG Ally, with testing showing up to 20% performance improvements in titles such as Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War: Reloaded, and as much as 110% longer battery life. At RM2,699, it represents the more accessible entry point into the new lineup.
The ROG Xbox Ally X, on the other hand, is built for next-level performance with the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor. This chip not only boosts frame rates but also incorporates an onboard NPU for upcoming AI-driven gaming features. With 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 1TB SSD, the ROG Xbox Ally X is designed to handle demanding AAA titles while providing ample space for large game libraries. Its 80Wh battery ensures endurance for extended sessions, offering up to double the battery life of its predecessor in titles such as Hollow Knight: Silksong. Performance testing indicates as much as a 30% uplift in games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages. Weighing 715g, it balances performance and portability, priced at RM4,299.
Gen-on-Gen Improvements and Future Readiness
Both the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X represent a clear generational leap over the original ROG Ally. They take full advantage of AMD’s latest graphics suite, including FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), and AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF). From October 3 to 15, customers who pre-order either model will receive a bundle worth RM999. Both the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are now available for pre-order today at RM2,699 and RM4,299, respectively. The ROG Xbox Ally handhelds will be widely available on shelves from all authorized ASUS resellers starting 17 October 2025.
