Pokémon Indonesia has announced a collaboration with popular dangdut singer Happy Asmara, and it is one that fans probably did not see coming. According to our sister website GamerWk, this marks an interesting crossover with dangdut, a genre of Indonesian folk music that has been a major part of the country’s music culture for generations.
In this collab, Happy Asmara was invited to duet with none other than Pikachu, the franchise’s most recognizable mascot, in a special music video. The song they chose is “Kopi Dangdut,” a well-known track that has long been considered an icon of the dangdut genre. Happy Asmara gave it a fresh spin, turning it into a new version called “Goyang HEPIKA,” while keeping the familiar, nostalgic feel of the original song intact.
Pikachu is not just a cameo here either. The electric mouse Pokémon plays an active role in the music video as one of the main dancers, which adds a fun and lively energy to the whole production. On the technical side, the music video stands out for its high production quality. The camera work, scene transitions, and 3D visual effects all come together well, with Pikachu and his signature electricity effects blending naturally into the real-world environments shown on screen.
This level of quality was made possible with the support of VFX and CG animators from Japan. The music video gave full credit to every staff member involved, with contributors coming from studios including KASSEN, Montblanc Pictures, CafeGroup, DotINK, and HASH. These teams handled various parts of the production, covering visual effects, rendering, rigging, lighting, and CG model creation.

The collaboration marks one of the bigger moves Pokémon has made to grow its presence in Indonesia, while also bringing the dangdut genre to a potentially new and younger audience.
