Pokémon HOME compatibility with Pokémon Legends: Z‑A officially launches on April 1, 2026, allowing players to begin transferring Pokémon from the Kalos-inspired adventure into the cloud storage platform. The long-awaited update arrives nearly six months after the game’s release on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The update fulfills an earlier promise from The Pokémon Company that HOME integration would arrive post-launch. For many players, this marks an important step toward preserving their collections and expanding cross-game transfer options across the Pokémon ecosystem.
However, the new functionality also introduces several important transfer limitations that players should understand before moving their Pokémon.
Update Version 4.0 Enables Transfers Beginning April 1

The compatibility arrives through Pokémon HOME version 4.0. Maintenance takes place during rollout, after which players can begin transferring Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A into the cloud service.
If the update does not install automatically, players can manually trigger it through the system’s software update options. Once installed, Pokémon caught in Pokémon Legends: Z-A can be deposited into HOME and stored safely in the cloud alongside collections from other supported titles.
Cloud storage remains one of the service’s biggest advantages. Pokémon placed inside HOME stay protected even if save data on the original game becomes corrupted or lost.
Some Transfers Cannot Be Reversed After Moving Pokémon
Despite the added compatibility, Pokémon HOME integration with Pokémon Legends: Z-A includes several important restrictions.
Pokémon transferred from Pokémon Legends: Z-A into HOME cannot be moved back into older Pokémon titles, even if those species exist in earlier games. Likewise, Pokémon moved from older games into Pokémon Legends: Z-A cannot return to those original titles afterward.
In addition, only species that appear in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s available Pokédex can be transferred into the game. A complete compatibility list is expected alongside the update rollout.
These rules follow the transfer structure used in several recent Pokémon releases, where cross-title compatibility depends on each game’s supported Pokédex roster.
Season 9 Launches Alongside Pokémon HOME Support
The Pokémon HOME compatibility update arrives on the same day as Season 9 content for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The seasonal update introduces several unlockable rewards tied to player progression.
Among the confirmed items are new Mega Stones used for Mega Evolution, alongside resources such as Seed of Mastery, Nugget, Gold Battle Cap, and Big Nugget. These additions expand both customization and progression opportunities for active players returning to the game.
The timing suggests that April 1 marks one of the largest post-launch update milestones for Pokémon Legends: Z-A so far.
Pokémon HOME Continues Expanding Its Role Across the Franchise

Pokémon HOME remains central to long-term collection management across modern Pokémon titles. The platform allows players to maintain a persistent cloud-based Pokédex that travels between supported releases instead of staying locked to individual save files.
Support is also planned for upcoming titles such as Pokémon Champions, reinforcing HOME’s position as the franchise’s primary transfer hub moving forward.
At the same time, players exploring newer experiences like Pokémon Pokopia or ongoing live updates in Pokémon GO can continue expanding their collections across multiple platforms throughout April.
With Pokémon HOME compatibility now live for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, trainers finally gain more flexibility in managing their teams while preparing for the next wave of Pokémon releases later this year.
