Hell is Us is officially heading to Nintendo Switch 2, with publisher Nacon and developer Rogue Factor confirming a release date of September 24.
Originally launched in September 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the action RPG is now expanding to Nintendo’s next-generation system, bringing its brutal exploration-driven experience to a new audience.
A Dark Action RPG Built Around Exploration and Survival

Hell is Us is a third-person action-adventure RPG that blends methodical melee combat with open-ended exploration. Set in a war-torn country plagued by a mysterious supernatural calamity, the game places players in a world where modern weapons are useless against the horrors that roam the land.
Instead, survival depends on mastering close-range combat and relying on limited tools, including a combat drone and an arsenal of ancient weapons such as swords, spears, and axes.
The setting itself is designed to feel oppressive and uncertain, with hostile environments and unpredictable encounters shaping the player’s journey through its semi-open world.
No Map, No Compass, No Handholding

One of the defining features of Hell is Us is its unconventional exploration system. There are no quest markers, no minimap, and no compass guiding the player forward. Instead, progression relies entirely on observation, intuition, and environmental storytelling.
This design encourages players to actively engage with the world rather than follow objective markers, making every discovery feel personal and earned.
The developers emphasize that exploration is meant to be immersive and interpretive, allowing players to piece together the narrative at their own pace.
Combat Focused on Brutality and Precision

Combat in Hell is Us is deliberately grounded and punishing. Players must learn enemy patterns, manage spacing, and make full use of their weapons and drone support to survive encounters with supernatural creatures known as chimeras.
These enemies cannot be defeated with traditional modern firepower, forcing players to rely on timing, positioning, and resource management rather than brute force.
The result is a combat system that prioritizes tension and survival over spectacle, reinforcing the game’s bleak atmosphere.
