Koei Tecmo and developer Ruby Party have officially revealed Harukanaru Toki no Naka de: Ryuuguu no Miko, the latest entry in the long-running otome visual novel series. Set to release this winter in Japan for iOS and Android, the title celebrates the 25th anniversary of the franchise. Fans can now pre-register via the App Store and Google Play to prepare for the journey ahead.
A Legendary Series Returns

Since its debut on the original PlayStation in 2000, the Harukanaru Toki no Naka de series has enchanted players with its blend of romance, history, and fantasy. Known internationally as Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time, the franchise has become one of Ruby Party’s most iconic “Neo Romance” works. With Ryuuguu no Miko, the series embraces a new era, offering a refreshed setting while maintaining its signature themes of destiny and love.
A Journey Beneath the Waves
The story begins when the protagonist, a modern-day university student, finds themselves caught in a violent storm while voyaging to Dan-no-ura. Amid the chaos, monsters appear across the sky, only for an elegant man clad in a kimono to appear and shield them from harm. Identifying himself as Taira no Kiyomori, he vows to guide the protagonist in the name of the Heike clan before leaping with them into the sea.

Awakening in the mystical water city of Ryugu, ruled by the Dragon God, the protagonist is chosen as the “Divine Child.” From here, they must embark on a journey across time and space alongside the Eight Leaves, legendary figures from Japanese history including Minamoto no Yoritomo, Date Masamune, and Hijikata Toshizo. Together, they must face new threats while forging bonds that could alter the flow of destiny itself.
Fresh Characters and Gameplay
Ryuuguu no Miko introduces an entirely new cast of characters and voice actors, ensuring a fresh experience even for long-time fans. Character designs are led by Tetsuko Mizuno alongside artists Bekko, Iwamoto Zerogo, and Yomikazukihan, each bringing their unique style to the vibrant cast. Voice talents such as Asami Seto, Katsuyuki Miura, Ryuichi Kijima, and Ryota Suzuki breathe new life into the guardians who will accompany players on their journey.

In addition to its romantic narrative, the game features card-based battles against invading forces and interactive elements like touch-based skinship and pillow talk scenes. These mechanics enhance the immersion, allowing players to experience deeper connections with the Eight Leaves while uncovering the mysteries of the water city.
