With Honkai Star Rail being available, we have a tier list to help you decide which characters to aim for if you’re undecided who to pull.

Do note that this tier list is based on the character’s individual potential and what they can offer. Additionally, this tier list is merely for reference and should not in any way dictate how you should play the game.

Characters in Honkai Star Rail is separated into two main attributes: Elements and Paths.

There are a total of seven different Elements in Honkai: Star Rail, them being: Physical, Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind, Quantum, and Imaginary.

As you might surmise, enemies in the game have their own elemental weakness, and dealing elemental damage that they are weak to will cause their toughness bar to go down. Once their toughness bar depletes, it will result in a break effect which will cause them to stop attacking for a turn, and subsequent damage dealt will be increased along with a special effect being applied depending on the element.Meanwhile, a character’s path dictates what role they are adapt in, and there are a total of 7 playable paths at the time of writing.

	Bronya	Harmony	Wind	Strong supporter that can give buffs to allies. Along with skills that can accelerate the order of actions for both allies and herself.
	Bailu	Abundance	Lightning	Excels at healing with her high healing output. Also great at keeping allies' survivability with her invigoration.
	Jing Yuan	Erudition	Lightning	Really good DPS character with AOE DMG. Lightning Lord's high attack count can be great with shredding enemies' toughness bar.
	Tingyun	Harmony	Lightning	Very good support character with Energy Regeneration.
	Gepard	Preservation	Ice	A great Tank character, providing shields to allies. His passive also allows him to revive once per battle when struck with a killing blow.
	Silver Wolf	Nihility	Quantum	Able to convert one of the enemy's weakness to match one of your teammate's element. Can fit into any team comp.
A	Himeko	Erudition	Fire	Overall strong Fire DPS character. Able to dish out a lot of DMG.
	Welt	Nihility	Imaginary	Extremely adept at controlling tempo during combat with his SPD reduction skills. Very valuable Imaginary element character.
	Yanqing	Hunt	Ice	Solid Single Target Ice DMG dealer that can apply Freeze and able to raise her CRIT rate.
	Natasha	Abundance	Physical	Really good healer and is great at keeping allies below 30% of their HP alive with her talent.
	Clara	Desctruction	Physical	Strong Tank unit that can protect allies with her taunt and counter-attack.
	Trailblazer	Preservation	Fire	Solid Tank who can redirect damage to them and can change from Single Target to Blast damage with Magma Will charges.
	Asta	Harmony	Fire	Good support unit that can buff up allies' ATK and SPD.
	Pela	Nihility	Ice	Strong Debuffer that can remove enemy buffs. Can gain energy back when attacking a debuffed enemy.
B	Dan Heng	Hunt	Wind	Overall strong single target damage dealer and can deal more wind damage when buffed by an allied skill.
	Sushang	Hunt	Physical	Decent Physical single target DPS and can increase her SPD when a weakness break occurs.
	Serval	Erudition	Lightning	Can easily apply Shock to group of enemies and can deal good lightning damage.
	March 7th	Perservation	Ice	Able to provide shields to allies and can counter when shielded ally is attacked.
	Sampo	Nihillity	Wind	His ultimate can increase damage on all DoT sources.
C	Hook	Destruction	Fire	Okay Fire DMG dealer that can apply burn.
	Arlan	Destruction	Lightning	Deals more DMG the lower his HP is, but very difficult to maintain.
	Trailblazer	Destruction	Physical	Strong Physical attacker and easy to use.
	Qingque	Erudition	Quantum	Useful Quantum unit and can deal enhanced damage when tiles are aligned.
F	Herta	Erudition	Ice	Very situational and very inconsistent when it comes to her follow-up attacks.

As with gacha games goes, it’s best to pull for your favourite characters regardless of meta. Good luck on your pulls and may your journey lead you starward.
