Fortnite is officially back on the Apple App Store worldwide. Epic Games announced the return, and it comes after a long legal battle between the two companies over how Apple runs its App Store and how it charges developers.
Epic says the timing of the return is tied to ongoing legal pressure on Apple. Apple recently told the U.S. Supreme Court that regulators around the world are watching the case closely to figure out what commission rate Apple is allowed to charge on purchases. Epic takes that as a sign that Apple will soon be forced to be more open about its fee structure, and believes governments around the world will not allow what Epic calls “junk fees” to continue once Apple’s costs are made public.
They also made it clear that its return to the App Store does not mean the fight is over. The company says it will keep pushing back against Apple’s practice of blocking alternative app stores and locking down payment options.

According to Epic, countries like Japan, the United Kingdom, and members of the European Union have passed laws to address these kinds of practices, but Apple has found ways to get around them through warning screens, extra fees, and strict requirements placed on developers. In Australia, Epic actually won its court case against Apple, with the court finding that several of Apple’s developer terms are unlawful. Despite that ruling, Apple is still enforcing those same terms.
Epic says it cannot return to the Australian store under what it considers an illegal payment arrangement, and is now asking the court to step in and put an end to Apple’s conduct there. Until Apple agrees to use lawful payment terms or a court orders it to do so, Fortnite will remain off the Australian App Store.
The return of Fortnite to Apple devices is a big moment for players who have been locked out since 2020, when Epic and Apple’s dispute first led to Fortnite being pulled from the platform. For now, players in most parts of the world can download the game again through the App Store, while the legal battles between the two companies continue in the background.
