GAME FREAK Inc.’s newest post-apocalyptic action RPG was released on August 4 to relatively mixed reviews. Although it’s sitting comfortably in the mid-70%, some players are dismayed by its story pacing, performance issues, and repetitiveness.
Beast of Reincarnation director Kota Furushima addressed the players’ voices in a recent interview with 4Gamer. He stated, ‘I honestly feel that there are still areas in the game that require our sincere attention.’
‘I’m truly sorry that parts of the game haven’t provided a sufficiently enjoyable experience,’ he added. The director also acknowledged the issues, including the lack of a skip button in cutscenes, and admitted that some aspects of the game still need polishing.
He followed up the acknowledgement with promises of fixes through future patches that would also address story pacing issues. Plans of adding DLSS 4/4.5 (L/M) and FSR4 were also mentioned to improve the game’s performance on PC. A 1.0.7 patch was already released following the game’s launch, which fixed several issues, including cutscene performance, camera improvements, and some PC fixes.

At the same time, Furushima highlighted what he thinks stuck well with players since the release, particularly the co-op aspect with the protagonist’s companion, Koo. He stated, ‘I feel the aspect of defeating enemies alongside your partner has been well-received.’ The director also shared that the difficulty currently present in the game is as intended, and wants players to work effectively with Koo for a better experience.

Beast of Reincarnation’s melancholic post-apocalyptic Japanese aesthetic was also mentioned by Furushima, and he thinks that it’s ‘resonating with many players.’ Overall, it seems that Beast of Reincarnation has a bright future ahead, as the game’s director is acknowledging its shortcomings as early as one week after its launch.
