After sharing my thoughts on the best characters from Tensura: King of Monsters, let’s look at the 10 worst characters from the game instead.
When characters from the series range from common Goblins to Demon Lords capable of obliterating continents, power levels will vary. This top 10 list will look at the weakest characters from the game. I will be ranking them based on my opinion on their overall usefulness (or lack thereof) and how viable they are.
Let’s dive into the top 10 worst Tensura: King of Monsters characters.
10. Kenya Misaki
Kenya is by no means a bad character. He actually has a solid 180% auto attack DMG and an okay-ish ultimate that hits an entire column of enemies.
However, it is his ignite aptitude that leaves much to be desired. He takes too slow to come online with his damage. Almost any other auto attacker with 180% DMG auto attack has more utility (Shion [Kijin] with stun and counter, Souei [Ogre] with clones, etc.)
For a 70% chance, he can technically hit for 240% auto attack DMG at max breakthrough, but by then, the other damage dealers do a much better job. In short, his ignite gimmick is a worse variant of Benimaru [Kijin].
9. Yuuki Kagurazaka
The Grand Master of the Free Union should spend more time training instead of reading manga. No matter how useful he is, he will always be in the shadow of Benimaru [Ogre]. What’s worse is that Benimaru [Ogre] is automatically given to all players in the first few chapters of the story.
Yuuki’s ultimate is basically Benimaru [Ogre]’s ultimate if it was single target. There is basically no reason to choose Yuuki over Benimaru. On the flip side, he can use his ultimate skill every round, but a maxed breakthrough Gobta is a better choice for that. However, Yuuki is quite viable in Space Gap using the Soul Drawing Core relic exploit.
Besides his ultimate skill, everything else is subpar. He cannot get frozen or stunned, but neither can he get buffed or healed (why?). He can heal himself with each auto attack, but he is not a good choice for a tank to take damage in the first place.
8. Gail Gibson
Gail’s light bullets unfortunately do not shine very well. The only thing going for the student is his ultimate, which in theory, can deal a lot of damage.
In practice, however, his ultimate skill is only truly effective when you have two enemies remaining in the enemy team. By then, the battle is basically won (most of the time). Gail needs a lot of set up to shine as he does not provide a lot of impact otherwise.
Sadly, characters like Benimaru [Ogre] are a lot easier to set up and have far more impact earlier into the fight.
7. Hakuro [Ogre]
With RNG, Hakuro [Kijin] can theoretically kill even the strongest enemies with one auto attack. However, no amount of RNG can help Hakuro [Ogre].
The Ogre version of the old man does have a decent ultimate skill, capable of triggering synergy. Unfortunately, his Heart Eye and Unsheathed Blade aptitudes are quite worthless. Unsheathed Blade increases the odds of Heart Eye triggering and when it triggers, Hakuro [Ogre]’s auto attack ignores 50% of the target’s DEF.
DEF penetration is not useful in the current content. In addition, Hakuro’s auto attack DMG is a meagre 100% DMG, so he’s basically cursed to be a lacklustre damage dealer.
6. Phobio
In the anime, Phobio is somewhat of a bigshot as Demon Lord Carrion’s right hand man. However, in the game, Phobio is really below average.
Phobio’s entire gimmick is that the lower his HP, the more DMG he deals. Unfortunately, cannot tank. Chances are, if you put him in your frontline, he would not last more than two rounds. Thus, his effectiveness is really cut short. In addition, his ultimate skill is heavily dependent on enemy positioning, so most of the time, you would not be able to make the most out of the DMG.
Interestingly enough, all of Phobio’s attacks are multi-hit. With the Dominant Lord set effect active, he can stun enemies with his ultimate sometimes. Even then, he is too RNG reliant for him to be a CC unit.
5. Kaval
Kaval is only useful for his ultimate. It gives his entire team a shield based on Kaval’s max HP.
Sadly, his ultimate skill suffers from a long 3-round cooldown and a costly 40 mana. Even with Max HP bonus Gear, Kaval’s shields are not strong enough to consistently prevent a teammate from dying. In the late game, enemy units will focus down your units, no matter how high your shields are.
4. Bryne
Bryne is even worse version of Kaval. He can only give a single ally shields. That, and the shield will restore HP to Byrne and another ally with the lowest HP once it expires or shatters.
This ultimate skill is far too weak to be of any impact. His other aptitude increases his DEF. He can probably take an extra auto attack before going down, but that’s about it.
3. Orc General
Orc General is the only real answer to auto attackers. He is also probably the only character in the game that can take and survive a Shizu crit, other than Rimuru or Shion [Ogre]. This is thanks to his ultimate skill which drastically lowers auto attack DMG for 1 round.
Beyond that, he cannot do much. He can take some DMG from auto attacks on round 1, but he will most likely die in round 2 if the same enemies wail on him. In addition, there are much better ultimate skills to use on round 1. In a game where killing the enemy faster is 99% of the time better than taking less DMG, Orc General is sadly out of his element.
2. Shuna [Ogre]
In theory, the ogre princess can be viable. Her ultimate skill basically guarantees an ally will crit with his or her ultimate skill. When paired with allies like Benimaru [Ogre], this makes the deadliest ultimate in the game a whole lot more deadlier.
Sadly, the entire shtick behind Shuna [Ogre] can be replicated with Gear. For that reason alone, there is no need to waste an important character slot when you can just give enough crit chance to your ally.
Besides that, the rest of her skills are all over the place. You can keep Shuna [Ogre] for the times when you absolutely need to ensure an allied ultimate crits, but there is basically no reason to upgrade her.
1. Any Rank B character
Most of you have probably seen this coming. Rank B characters are the worst units in Tensura: King of Monsters.
Rank B characters are fodder. If you needed to use them in a fight in the first place, I’m sorry to tell you that there is another character out there who can do the job better.
Besides that, Rank B characters have the undisputed worst stats in the game. On top of that, they also gain no stats bonuses when advanced. A 2★ Lizardman Warrior is as useless as a 1★ Lizardman Warrior.
With the exception of Goblin, all other Rank B characters only have 4 skills. If you want to challenge yourself or just really, really love the nameless mooks like the Gatekeeper from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, then go ahead and use Rank B characters.
That is about it for the top 10 worst Tensura: King of Monsters characters. Do not feel bad if a character you like is on this list. Nothing is stopping you from using any character in the game, other than RNG from banner pulls.
